John Ryan, General Manager, Sarasota/West Florida

John Ryan is the General Manager for Comcast Spotlight in West Florida overseeing Local, Regional and National Sales.  He joined Spotlight in 1999 as an Account Executive in Atlanta.  In 2003 he was promoted to Local Sales Manager of Northeast Atlanta.  As an LSM, John was instrumental in building a sales team and growing local revenue.  Previously, he worked for Cox Media and USA.NET.  John is a graduate of the University of Florida holding a degree in Telecommunications.

I began working in radio throughout Florida and was production manager in Sebring for WWOJ.  In 1986, I was offered an on-air position with WDUV in Bradenton, Fl. Later that year I moved into advertising sales for the station.  In 1989 I started my own business and after selling the business in 1993, I returned to advertising as an AE for West Coast Woman Magazine in Sarasota, Fl.  I worked as a retail AE for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and while there, was the first AE to sell internet advertising for newspaper.  After working for SNN6 (a 24 HR news station owned by the New York Times) as Sales Manager, I arrived at Comcast Spotlight in 2002 as Local Sales Manager for Sarasota/ Venice and have thoroughly enjoyed working with our fabulous Spotlight team!
